The Wedding Present - A Million Miles
Criminally underrated song.
这简直世纪情歌。。。
好美好美好美 像是有人轻轻和自己一起漂浮一样!
Terrible drumming/clicking in this track....
My second favorite rendition of Pachelbel's Canon in D.
🥹🥹🥹🥹 most beautiful music I’ve heard. It does something to me that I can’t even articulate. Just makes me so emotional 🥹🥹🥹🥹
Did the Whitlams inhale this treasure of a song?
Fantastic
Keren pada tahun berapa lagu ini di rilis pertama kali?
I want the world to know how awesome this song is.
Saw them live a couple of times, they were as powerful on the stage as they were in the studio. Tracks like this build and build, and this one gathers more momentum than a runaway juggernaut.
Spiritualized
All spangled up, glittering on There's a monster in the kitchen his light's turned on Thanks for coming it meant a lot But you sure do know how to put me on the spot You're so green You're so green You're so green You're so green You came into the kitchen - a rose held high I never want to see young flowers die And hearing all that made me feel like a spy To tell you any different would be to lie You're so green You're so green You're so green You're so green You're so green You're so green "Merry Christmas" you said to me Empty drawers nothing left for me We turned around now and what did we see? All our whispers and transparencies You're so green You're so green You're so green You're so green You're so green You're so green So green So green So green
Great live version, thanks
Just love this song
LYRICS: . Nobody told me it would be like this Nobody showed me how to care What better time than a time like this To show you all the love I have They say there's no more IRA to fear There's no more cold war atmosphere And when there's no more Iron ore left to dig There's no more news for us to read And If you see me as a diplomat Then I am winning by the mile I'll tell you stories like a thief who has A cheap blue biro and a line Satisfaction is a need for us A satisfaction guaranteed You taste much better than you did last year Stronger than American Beer Take a rest and take your God outside When I'm on the street I can be what I like I can talk the way always wanted to Not many people pass me by I had a vision like an acrobat And you caught me spinning like a wheel I lost control, well, I'll give you that Well what the hell, it worked for me And how I wish that you could see me now I really wish that you were here You'd be so proud I know you really would To see the things that I can do How I wish that you were with me now Everything would seem so clear I'd tell you stories through the 'happy hour' With a cold, weak American Beer Nobody told me it would be like this Nobody showed me how to care What better time than a time like this To show you all the love I have
Defined the 90's for me ...all BT songs just pull the emotions out of you, good ,bad, happy mad, lonely, green doesn't matter, there is a BT song for you!
Does anyone know what is that string instrument is? The one that accompanies the whole song
lap steel or pedal steel guitar. probably pedal steel
The greatest and most eternal love song ever written.
this song saved me
this song saved you and me and so many people❤
Without doubt the best cover of Kinks song EVER!!!!
Do you need anything else this is Life
Best live version about this song!
Gone 14 years. RIP, bro. Thanks for the many, many great tunes.
Finest melody my ears ever heard
This song gives me thrills after all these years. A masterpiece that can never be forgotten.
And 3 years after this comment, the same for me!
4 people with terrible taste in music gave this a thumbs down.
One of the many great songs
I don't think I will ever find a more beautifully arranged piece of music that I rejoice and fear listening to at the same time. I love it, but the emotions it brings out tear at me in ways I resist, yet I can not resist this song or stay away from it. There is true artistry in music of this caliber - heart-wrenching and pleasurable simultaneously. Genius!
Ditto. Exquisite pain.
I so agree with you.
Another ditto here. Ouch!
I only listened to this once or twice over the last few decades. Before that I listened to it endlessly for a long time but then retired it because it was the one song in my life that I've always feared growing tired of. I want it to remain gleaming and perfect. There is no other song I treat the same way.
Epic
after having kids...this song took on new meaning.
Dylanesque.....
Ik zag Buffalo Tom in de Willem Twee in 1989 en in 2014. In 2018 zijn ze in de Effenaar geweest. Ongelooflijk, die band wordt alleen maar beter. Wat een lyrics, muziek en emotie. Geweldig! Dank dat jullie gewoon doorgaan!
Great American Music
All spangled up, glittering on
maybe one of the best opening lines in rock.
Hearing Brassneck on "The A Word" reminded me how good Wedding Present were, this is my favourite song by them.
I was lucky to see them live in a club.
Where/when was this recorded? The full concert used to be up, but it just disappeared.
Looks like no one really came to answer you Sasha sorry lol
Sasha, I answer you: Spiritualized - Live Radio City Music Hall, NYC - 30th July 2010. Here the full concert >> ua-cam.com/video/wk14D6Wkrvs/v-deo.html
''You're so green, you're sooooo green......''
This uses the(very common) chords from Pachelbel's 'Canon'. All the rest of it is Jason's - the actual melody, which transforms 'Canon' from a nice instrumental into one of the most heart-shredding pieces of music ever recorded; the cosmic orchestration; that incredible 'waow; wa-oowow' quitar line that eventually comes into the song; the simple, painful lyrics. It's a petty, sad mind that listens to this song and tries to make out it's not Pierce's composition.
Who cares though?
@@xx-ug9hn I do
Beautiful thank you for this
“I can’t help falling in love” ???
@@traviscarver4708 Ah, good point :) - I don't really count that as part of the song though because it's not in all versions.
I heard this when it first came out. I sat and listened to the album over and over for most of teenage years. Since then I've listened to so much more music, and heard so many great songs by great artists. But this is still the most beautiful piece of music I've ever heard, the most beautiful song ever written.
...But this is still the greatest song I've ever heard. If I could choose to fire one thing into space that represents the human race's artistic side; that would tell any other civilisations out there about us and our approach to creation; it would be this song.
@@thesprawl2361 hey man, how are you doing nowadays?
@@thesprawl2361 this is the song that should play when the world ends.
@@ctrain8900 Up/down, like everyone pretty much.
great band
next week, London :-)
taken way way too soon such a great talent happy anniversary ten years gone sad he be up there lighting fires x
Absolute classic! Screamed at them to play this as the last song at a gig at a Manchester gig while slightly drunk about six years ago - think Bill wanted to do something uplifting like 'Velvet Roof', but I was determined to hear this live and wasn't disappointed! An awesome track from an awesome band 👏
Nice! I had the exact same experience, but flipping rhe songs -- Velvet Roof by request, in the encore. Terrific show & band.
vanilla sky is best movie in my life and this song is best song in the vanilla sky.
Dank
I've wondered if the band Mineral was named after this song. I can see the influence.
yes it was a reference to this song
Yep. They were a major influence on Mineral. It's even mentioned on their Wiki page.
A big number of 90s emo bands were influenced by Buffalo Tom. This influence is most apparent I think in groups Christie Front Drive, Jimmy Eat World and of course Mineral.
emotion pours thru on this one. one of my favorites from a consistently great rock band
most do
How I wish it had been me who wrote this fine , sad and great song !! ;-) :-)
